In 2009, Mina Sari Sedana began working on cultured coral in conjunction with fishermen on Serangan Island, about 3km km from the city of Denpasar. A number of varieties of coral, both soft and hard, are cultivated until they are ready to be harvested. The intention of this cooperation is to increase the welfare of local fishermen, and also to improve their understanding of how to use the coral as a means of income, and how to protect and sustain the marine environment at the same time. All coral harvested by Mina Sari Sedana are the products of their own plantations. This is strictly controlled by the Institution for the Conservation of Natural Resources (Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam) of the Republic of Indonesia.
